The Weather We Drink To
The Bureau Presents: Barometer
Overview
A conceptual spirits range inspired by the weather systems that dominated Australia this past year. Each bottle captures a national moment, from rare auroras lighting up the sky, to iconic blue-sky days, to the dramatic supercells we track on the BoM radar. “The Weather We Drink To” reimagines these atmospheric events as collectible gins.
Approach
This project imagines a playful collaboration between the Bureau of Meteorology and Dan Murphy’s. Using real weather patterns as inspiration, the concept turns forecasts into flavours, moods and visual identities. The goal: create a range that feels elevated, familiar, and have fun while doing it!
Design
BoM-influenced gradients, atmospheric colour shifts and subtle radar cues shape each label. Aurora uses vivid spectral bands from this year’s rare southern lights, Blue Skies leans into soft summer tones, and Supercell channels storm energy through electric pinks and cloudlike fades. Together, the bottles use type and colour to capture the personality of each weather event.
Outcome
A bold concept that blends meteorology with mixology. The result is a visually striking series that turns everyday weather obsessions into shelf-worthy spirits.
